Home Depot has announced that it is giving its holiday season mobile presence a boost by using a mobile ad campaign that consumers can use to help find the gifts and products that they’re seeking.

The massive home improvement and renovation company is using Pandora to run mobile banner ads. These ads send mobile device users to the m-commerce website, where they can browse and purchase the top must-have items for the season.

The banner ad says “Update Your Toolbox With Holiday Savings. Shop Tools.” When it’s tapped, they are redirected to a Home Depot landing page that shows them a vast selection of different kinds of hardware and tools. This allows the mobile device users to peruse various items and view both the price and product number for ease of purchase.

They can also use the search function located at the top of the page in order to find specific items on their shopping lists. Moreover, the banner gives users the ability to locate the nearest Home Depot store, where they can have a look at the product themselves, in person. Their hope is that the ad will not only drive in-store traffic in an effective way, but that it will also encourage mobile device users to visit the store’s commerce site.

This is far from the first effort that Home Depot has made using mobile technology. In 2010, the store overhauled its mobile app to add commerce capabilities just in time for the busiest point in last year’s holiday shopping season.
