Augmented reality has been getting a lot of attention in the gaming industry in recent years and rightfully so, as the technology can make gaming more dynamic as it can turn the physical world into a digital playground. With a new sleuth of gaming consoles capable of handling augmented reality games, more developers have been setting their sights on the technology. Tecmo Koei, a Japanese game developer known around the world for its popular survival horror games, has announced that it will be using augmented reality to make its new horror title much more frightening.

Titled Ghost Camera, the game is being developed for the Nintendo 3DS, a handheld gaming device that has grown popular because of its use of 3D technology. The console is equipped with a camera, which allows users to take pictures and augment them digitally. This is particularly useful for augmented reality games as it makes the experience more dynamic. Ghost Camera will offer an experience honest to its title: Players will hunt through the real world and take pictures of ghostly apparitions.

The developer has released a trailer showing off the game. While the trailer is in Japanese, the concept of the game is clear. As with previous titles, the game will appeal most to those with an interest in Japanese folklore and paranormality. This will be the first time Tecmo Koei utilizes augmented reality for its games.
