Apple has finally confirmed an upcoming iPhone 5 event which will occur on October 4, giving Tim Cook his first opportunity to truly shine outside of the shadow of Steve Jobs.
As an unofficial debut as the CEO of Apple Inc., the unveiling of the iPhone 5 will likely provide the best possible device and time for Cook.
The keynote event will occur at the Apple Town Hall Auditorium at 10 in the morning (Pacific time) on October 4. Members of the media have been invited to view what is expected to be the unveiling of the latest iPhone device. The event invitation features the icons used on iOS for a clock, calendar, Google Maps, and the phone apps. Below those icons is the tagline for the event, which is “Let’s talk iPhone.”
Analysts anticipate that the release of the iPhone 5 will not be long after the event. There has been a blackout for vacations for Apple employees in the United States and the United Kingdom between October 9 and October 12, as well as on the 14th and 15th of the month, leading many to believe that these will be connected to the release. Further supporting this theory are reports from the AppleCare divisions, which have been advised to prepare themselves for the onset of heavy traffic.
Even in a struggling economy, it is predicted that the next generation of the iPhone – the gold standard in the smartphone industry – will draw lineups of consumers who are seeking the device with the very latest features.
