App searches to become simplified

When apps first started becoming popular, there weren’t enough of them to worry about the state of the marketplace and its overall search-ability, but as smartphones and tablets have become much more commonplace, app-related search engines have become far too messy to continue as they are in 2012.

The mobile world has become a chaotic battle for developers to try to have their apps discovered, even when device users are seeking those apps specifically. The stores and search engines for apps are finally now beginning the improvements to their support for both the Android and Apple applications.

Though users of Apple devices have already seen some positive changes, the upgrades to the Android Market have made a much larger statement, as have the creation of the Amazon Appstore for Android (which sells applications for only that operating system), and the major improvements to Appbrain.com, Appolicious, and other existing services.

Among these positive and meaningful developments has been the enhancement of the Android Market website. The new web version of the Android Market is now offering a much better service and performance than its previous version that was weak and did not provide an app search feature.

This was surprising to many, considering that Google is the owner of Android, and it is typically known for a stronger performance, especially in terms of search capabilities.

Google has been working on this issue since February 2011, and has since produced a wide array of browsing categories as well as a search feature in the Android Market website. Efforts to improve this service are certain to continue by both Android and Apple.
